In August, Eden attended an Easy Evaluation workshop through Ngā Pou Mana in Wellington to learn how we can evaluate and improve our programmes. This workshop was incredibly useful as she was able to use some of the skills to improve the Wāhine Toa programme at Otumoetai College. More improvements to our programmes are looking to be made in the new year. Eden also attended a Mental Health 101 workshop last month.

Eden learnt more information about mental health issues and how to recognise them and better understand the needs of some of the children that we work with.  Tanya and Eden both attend the Ministry of Education UBRS (Understanding behaviours and responding safely) and safe-restraint training. This workshop allowed us to see what a child’s brain does when it is distressed and taught us how to respond to certain behaviours safely. This training is incredibly valuable in our line of work.
